Shopify now has purchase orders of its own. You can record what you agreed with a supplier, with products, quantities, costs and payment terms, keep supplier records with their contacts and currency, import the lines from a spreadsheet, and receive the stock through a transfer that updates inventory. That is more than this category usually acknowledges, and it arrived while Shopify was retiring its older point-of-sale purchasing tool, which is why so many listings here are pitched as replacements for it.

What the native feature does not do marks out the rest. It will not email a purchase order to your supplier, it will not import your history from wherever the orders live now, and it has no spend-by-supplier reporting or landed-cost allocation, for which Shopify's own documentation points at a third-party app. Stock on an unreceived order sits as incoming and is not sellable until it arrives.
