The top 10 apps merchants see when they search the Shopify App Store for elevar, in the exact order the store ranks them. Only Shopify's organic ranking is shown, never sponsored ads.
Updated September 8, 2026 · Organic rankingThe old way of putting a tag manager on a Shopify store is closing. The checkout liquid route is already unsupported for the information, shipping and payment steps, and the additional scripts on the thank-you and order status pages are being sunset. What replaces it is deliberately fenced: a pixel you paste in yourself runs in a sandboxed frame that cannot reach the top of the page, and an app-built pixel runs in a stricter sandbox with no document at all, and cannot even call the customer privacy API from there.
So when a listing here says your container runs on checkout, it means events are relayed from that sandbox into your container rather than the container being injected into the page. That is a real and supported thing to do. It is just worth knowing, because it explains why some tags you are used to firing on checkout will not behave the way they did.
Server-side tagging is the other half of this category and is worth defining plainly, since Google does: it means running a second container of your own that receives events, instead of the page sending them straight to each vendor. It changes where requests come from. It is not a way around consent, which both Shopify and Google's own consent mode still gate.

Built for Shopify
Built for Shopify is the highest level of recognition Shopify awards an app. To earn
the badge, an app must meet Shopify's standards for safety, performance, ease of use,
and proven usefulness: it cannot slow down the admin, storefront, or checkout, must
integrate seamlessly into the Shopify admin, and must demonstrate quality through
installs, reviews, and ratings over time. When comparing similar apps, preferring
ones with the badge is a safe default.

We built Rankbase to track the App Store rankings of our own apps first, then opened it to other developers, and this directory grew out of that work. The rankings on these pages are Shopify's own organic search results; we never edit them, including for our own apps.
