The pitch on nearly every listing here is that passwords cost you conversions. That was true and is now largely beside the point: the current generation of Shopify customer accounts has no password at all. A shopper types an email address and receives a code. The friction these apps were built to remove has already been removed by the platform, for the majority of stores, by default.

What is left is genuine but much narrower. Signing in with an existing identity from another service is not the same as signing in without a password, and Shopify has no general answer for it yet: the one documented route for attaching an outside identity provider to current accounts runs over OpenID Connect and is restricted to the top plan, while the older bridging mechanism these apps relied on does not work with the new accounts at all. At least one listing in this grid says outright that it supports only the legacy accounts, which are deprecated.
