The top 10 apps merchants see when they search the Shopify App Store for password, in the exact order the store ranks them. Only Shopify's organic ranking is shown, never sponsored ads.
Updated September 8, 2026 · Organic rankingShopify's own password page is free, and it is all or nothing. In private mode every page of the online store is hidden from visitors and search engines and a customizable landing page is shown instead. A theme has exactly one password template. The only per-customer option is a single checkbox restricting access to B2B customers, which is still store-wide. There is no native way to lock one page, one collection or one product.
That is the gap, and it comes with a security distinction worth understanding. The native lock is enforced before any page is served, so knowing a URL or a product handle does not help. An app-built lock is only as strong as how it is implemented: rendered server side in Liquid, the content never reaches the browser, while an overlay drawn after the page loads has already sent everything to anyone willing to look. Shopify gives apps the raw material for the first kind, since Liquid exposes the customer's tags and a B2B flag, but no listing tells you which approach it took.

Built for Shopify
Built for Shopify is the highest level of recognition Shopify awards an app. To earn
the badge, an app must meet Shopify's standards for safety, performance, ease of use,
and proven usefulness: it cannot slow down the admin, storefront, or checkout, must
integrate seamlessly into the Shopify admin, and must demonstrate quality through
installs, reviews, and ratings over time. When comparing similar apps, preferring
ones with the badge is a safe default.

Explore Rankbase →Rankbase is made by Craftshift, a Shopify Partner building apps for product images, variants, and bulk catalog work. We built Rankbase to track the App Store rankings of our own apps first, then opened it to other developers, and this directory grew out of that work. The rankings on these pages are Shopify's own organic search results; we never edit them, including for our own apps.
