The top 10 apps merchants see when they search the Shopify App Store for omnibus, in the exact order the store ranks them. Only Shopify's organic ranking is shown, never sponsored ads.
Updated September 8, 2026 · Organic rankingThis category exists because of one sentence in EU law and one thing Shopify does not store. The Omnibus directive says that any announcement of a price reduction must indicate the prior price, and defines that prior price as the lowest the trader applied during a period of not less than thirty days before the reduction. So a sale badge in the EU needs a number that describes the past.
Shopify holds no past. A variant carries a compare-at price, described in Liquid as the compare at price of the variant and in the Admin API as the compare-at price in the shop currency, and that is a single current value with no date attached. The range fields that look historical are not: they are the minimum and maximum across a product's variants right now. There is no array, no log, no prior value anywhere on the platform.
Which explains how every app here works and why they all look alike. They subscribe to the product update webhook, which fires whenever a product is updated or its variants change and hands over the current state rather than a diff, and they build the thirty-day minimum themselves from that stream. The badge on your product page is computed off Shopify and injected back into the theme.

Built for Shopify
Built for Shopify is the highest level of recognition Shopify awards an app. To earn
the badge, an app must meet Shopify's standards for safety, performance, ease of use,
and proven usefulness: it cannot slow down the admin, storefront, or checkout, must
integrate seamlessly into the Shopify admin, and must demonstrate quality through
installs, reviews, and ratings over time. When comparing similar apps, preferring
ones with the badge is a safe default.

We built Rankbase to track the App Store rankings of our own apps first, then opened it to other developers, and this directory grew out of that work.
