The usual assumption about this category is that Shopify's reporting is locked behind a plan, and that is not what the gap is: Shopify says the main analytics features are available on any subscription. What is missing is everything that would let a report run without you. Nothing native schedules a recurring export, and nothing native delivers a file anywhere except your own downloads folder, so a weekly file for your accountant, a nightly feed to a supplier or a sheet your buyer opens on Monday is someone else's job.

The exports themselves are also narrower than they look. An order export is a fixed set of columns you cannot choose, and it either downloads or gets emailed to you depending on how many orders you asked for. A product export leaves the images out. Metafields and line item properties, which is where most stores keep the details that make their catalog theirs, are simply not in the file.

What to look for in a Export app

Which columns you can actually choose: This is the whole purchase. Calculated fields, renamed headers, one row per line item rather than per order, and metafields included by name are what turn an export into something another system can read without a person in the middle.
Where the file goes, and when: A scheduled run that lands in email, on an SFTP server, in Google Sheets or in Drive is the difference between a report and a habit. Check the schedule granularity, and check what happens to the run when the export gets big.
Whether you are buying reports or plumbing: Listings here split into two temperaments: dashboards for a person to read, and file generation for another system to consume. Several sell both, and the one you need determines whether you should be evaluating chart types or delimiters and encodings.
The accounting shape: If the destination is a bookkeeper, the report set matters more than the builder: sales against refunds, tax collected, returns, payouts and cost of goods each have a conventional shape, and an app that ships them saves you rebuilding them from raw columns.

Built for Shopify
Built for Shopify is the highest level of recognition Shopify awards an app. To earn the badge, an app must meet Shopify's standards for safety, performance, ease of use, and proven usefulness: it cannot slow down the admin, storefront, or checkout, must integrate seamlessly into the Shopify admin, and must demonstrate quality through installs, reviews, and ratings over time. When comparing similar apps, preferring ones with the badge is a safe default. Learn more about the Built for Shopify badge →

Built by Craftshift

Rankbase is made by Craftshift, a Shopify Partner building apps for product images, variants, and bulk catalog work. We built Rankbase to track the App Store rankings of our own apps first, then opened it to other developers, and this directory grew out of that work. The rankings on these pages are Shopify's own organic search results; we never edit them, including for our own apps.
