The problem this category solves is the shape of a payout. An entry per order gives you customer-level detail in the books and a general ledger that grows fast. Some listings let you choose, and the ones that do not have chosen for you.
Whether the payout is un-netted: The test of a sync is whether the bank deposit lands as a single line to be guessed at, or arrives split into sales, fees, refunds and adjustments that reconcile against the statement without manual work. Ask to see a real example of one payout in the ledger.
How far back it will go: Switching mid-year means somebody has to import history. Backfill depth is usually priced, sometimes limited, and always worth settling before you start rather than after the first month closes.
Tax that matches what you actually collected: Shopify is explicit that filing and remitting remain yours: it is your responsibility to verify rates and to file correctly. So the useful feature is not a tax report but per-transaction mapping to the tax codes your accounting system uses, especially if you sell across borders.
