These apps do one thing, and it is narrower than it sounds: they mint codes for a discount that already exists. None of them defines the offer. You build the discount in Shopify, then generate five thousand unique strings that all point at it.

Which leads to the fact that catches people out. The usage limits live on the discount, not on the code. A cap of one use per customer, or a total redemption limit, applies across every code in the batch rather than to each one individually. Work out whether you need many codes or many discounts: One discount with thousands of codes shares one set of limits. Genuinely separate limits per recipient means separate discounts, which runs into the store-wide cap on how many can be active. Deciding this first tells you whether this category solves your problem at all.
