Cart Transform can override a line's price, but only development stores and Plus stores may use apps with those operations, and Cart Transform is not on the list of functions allowed to make network calls. Shopify's own advice for that situation is to write metafields before the buyer reaches checkout. Which is exactly what these apps do, and why "live" here always means resynced, never priced at the moment of sale.
