Flow builds workflows out of triggers, conditions and actions, its conditions read fields straight from the Admin API, and it is available on every plan from the entry level up. Anything you pay for here has to beat that, so the useful way to read the category is as a list of Flow's ceilings.

Which ceiling you are actually hitting: Write down the automation you cannot build today and check it against the list: an external API call on a plan without the HTTP action, something that has to run more often than every ten minutes, a loop over a large collection, or logic too awkward for conditions. That sentence is your requirement.
How far it goes beyond the visual builder: The paid tools in this category differentiate on code: a real scripting step with access to the API, template rendering, and the ability to fetch.
