The top 10 apps merchants see when they search the Shopify App Store for search & discovery, in the exact order the store ranks them. Only Shopify's organic ranking is shown, never sponsored ads.
Updated September 8, 2026 · Organic rankingShopify's own free app already covers more of this than most people expect: filters, synonym groups, product boosts, and it carries the same AI search label its paid competitors advertise. Where it stops is documented rather than mysterious. A collection holding more than five thousand products displays no filters at all, and a store may define twenty-five filters in total, which is a ceiling that more than one listing here advertises straight past with the word unlimited.
Native search has a particular shape too, and it explains most complaints about it. It looks at eight fields, matches whole words only, treats several typed terms as all having to match, and forgives misspellings in some fields but not others: a mistyped product title is recoverable, a mistyped SKU or a word from the description is not. What a paid app mostly sells is a different index with different rules. That can be well worth having; the comparison to make is against the free app rather than against nothing.

Built for Shopify
Built for Shopify is the highest level of recognition Shopify awards an app. To earn
the badge, an app must meet Shopify's standards for safety, performance, ease of use,
and proven usefulness: it cannot slow down the admin, storefront, or checkout, must
integrate seamlessly into the Shopify admin, and must demonstrate quality through
installs, reviews, and ratings over time. When comparing similar apps, preferring
ones with the badge is a safe default.

Explore Rankbase →Rankbase is made by Craftshift, a Shopify Partner building apps for product images, variants, and bulk catalog work. We built Rankbase to track the App Store rankings of our own apps first, then opened it to other developers, and this directory grew out of that work. The rankings on these pages are Shopify's own organic search results; we never edit them, including for our own apps.
