Shopify does not distinguish a poll from a survey: they share one app category, and most of the tools here do both. What separates an on-site poll from the post-checkout kind is where it renders. A question on a product page or in a popup is a theme extension, installed into your storefront, which also means it has to be switched on in the theme editor before anything appears.

Nothing about a vote exists in Shopify. There is no poll object, no tally and nowhere for an answer to go, so responses travel out to the app's own backend and live there. That is perfectly workable and it does mean the results are only ever as portable as the app allows. If a poll also collects an email address, note that the automatic link between a signup and a Shopify customer only happens through the theme's own newsletter form; an app collecting the address through its own form gets no such connection for free.

Decide what you will do with the answer: A poll that informs nothing is a widget slowing down a product page. Before installing, name the decision the results will feed, because the tools that look best in a demo are often the ones that produce the prettiest charts and the least usable data.
Where responses are stored and how they come out: Since nothing lands in Shopify by default, the export and the integrations are the real product. Check what a raw download contains, and whether an answer can be attached to the customer who gave it if you need to act on it later.
If it takes an email, check the consent: An address collected through an app's own form does not automatically become a consenting subscriber on your customer record.
