What to look for in a Launchpad app

Check the native feature first: Try scheduling a publish with Rollouts before paying for anything. If it does what you need on your plan and your theme, you are done. An app is worth buying here only for something specific the native feature will not do.
Whether it puts the old theme back: A sale that starts on a schedule but ends by hand is half a feature, and reverting is where these apps differ most. Ask whether it schedules the swap back as well as the swap out, and what happens if the revert fails at two in the morning.
More than one job at a time: Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the return to normal are three scheduled changes in one week. Confirm the app allows several queued jobs rather than one pending change, and that you can see the queue.
Themes only, or content too: Some of these schedule products, prices, discounts and pages as well. That is a genuinely different product and often the real need: a seasonal theme without the matching prices going live at the same moment is not much use.
What it does to your theme count: Given the plan limit and the fact that unpublished themes stay in drafts, ask whether the app cleans up after itself and how it names what it leaves behind. Otherwise you will be deleting themes by hand under time pressure.
The permission it needs: Publishing a theme through the API requires write access to themes plus an exemption from Shopify to modify them, so this is not a light integration. Look at what the app can reach, and prefer one that only publishes rather than one that also edits.
