The top 10 apps merchants see when they search the Shopify App Store for combined listing, in the exact order the store ranks them. Only Shopify's organic ranking is shown, never sponsored ads.
Updated September 8, 2026 · Organic rankingCombining is what you reach for when variants are the wrong shape. Each colour stays a real, separate product with its own address, its own images and its own merchandising, and remains discoverable on its own, while the shopper sees one product with a picker. Underneath it is an ordinary product relationship, a parent standing over its children, rather than anything bolted on. The parent is a shell: it cannot be bought, holds no inventory and has no sales data at all, so every order line and every figure in your reporting is about a child.
Shopify publishes an app for this and it is restricted to the top plans, which is the fact that decides most of this page. Below that tier the third-party apps are not competing with something free, they are the only route. Above it they still add the thing the native one lacks, which is grouping products automatically by a rule rather than one combination at a time. Reassuringly, none of this is destructive: separating a child leaves the product intact, and deleting a combined listing removes only the parent while the children carry on.

Built for Shopify
Built for Shopify is the highest level of recognition Shopify awards an app. To earn
the badge, an app must meet Shopify's standards for safety, performance, ease of use,
and proven usefulness: it cannot slow down the admin, storefront, or checkout, must
integrate seamlessly into the Shopify admin, and must demonstrate quality through
installs, reviews, and ratings over time. When comparing similar apps, preferring
ones with the badge is a safe default.

Explore Rankbase →Rankbase is made by Craftshift, a Shopify Partner building apps for product images, variants, and bulk catalog work. We built Rankbase to track the App Store rankings of our own apps first, then opened it to other developers, and this directory grew out of that work. The rankings on these pages are Shopify's own organic search results; we never edit them, including for our own apps.
