Shopify does buy X get Y natively and it is more capable than its reputation. The free item can be a different product from the bought one, either side can be a whole collection, the reward can go all the way to free, and eligibility can be narrowed to particular customers or a segment. If the shopper is willing to add the free item themselves, you may not need anything from this list.

Two things are genuinely missing. The discount reduces a price, it does not put anything in the basket, so the automatic gift every listing here leads with is a change to the cart rather than a discount and needs a different mechanism entirely. And combining is unusually restrictive: products caught up in a buy X get Y discount are shut out of further product discounts, with only limited stacking available and only on the reward side.
