Shopify has no audio. Product media comes in exactly four kinds, an image, a hosted video, an externally hosted video and a 3D model, and sound is not among them. An audio file can only enter the store as a generic file, the same bucket as a PDF, with a file size ceiling that a few minutes of compressed audio will reach comfortably. On a trial plan the accepted formats do not include audio at all.

That ceiling explains the shape of the category better than any feature list. Short samples can be hosted on Shopify and attached to a product through a file reference field. Anything full length has to come from somewhere else, which is why a good share of these embed a streaming service instead of playing your own file.
