Changelog

Product updates, new features, and improvements to Rankbase.

July 2026

Connect Claude & AI Assistants to Your Data (MCP)

  • New: Rankbase MCP server. Connect Claude and other AI assistants directly to your Rankbase data, and ask about your App Store rankings and installs in plain language, no CSV exports or copy-pasting dashboards. Built on the open Model Context Protocol.
  • One-click sign-in on claude.ai and the Claude desktop app. Add Rankbase as a custom connector, approve a consent screen, and the tools appear in your conversations. No API key to copy.
  • Works with your dev tools too. Claude Code, Cursor, and the Claude API connector connect with an API key from your API & MCP page.
  • Read only and scoped to your team. Assistants can list your apps, pull keyword rankings (with position, device, country, and search type), and look up where specific stores discovered and installed your app. They can never change your listings, settings, or billing.
  • See the MCP documentation to get started.

Device Analytics & More Accurate Mobile Positions

  • More accurate keyword positions for mobile clicks. Shopify shows 4 sponsored slots above the organic search results on desktop but only 3 on phones, so the same organic rank arrives as a different raw position number depending on the device. Rankbase now reads each click's device from Google Analytics and applies the correct sponsored-slot offset. Previously, mobile positions could be reported one spot better than reality, and an app ranked #1 organically on a phone could show up as position 4.
  • Device column on the Installs page. Every install row now shows whether the merchant was on desktop, mobile, or tablet, right next to the country.
  • Device in Search Details. The keyword page's Search Details table shows the device for every captured search click, so you can tell mobile and desktop rankings apart at a glance.
  • New "Install clicks by devices" chart on the app dashboard. See how your install clicks (or real installs, if you track them) split across desktop, mobile, and tablet. It follows your selected date range and is built from the same data as the countries chart, so the totals always line up.
  • Device in the public API. Keyword position records and per-shop install records now include a device field (desktop, mobile, tablet, or unknown). See the API documentation.

Weekly Traffic Reports & A Fresh New Look

  • New: weekly traffic report email. Every Tuesday you get a per-app summary of the last complete week compared to the week before: total traffic, each traffic source, App Store search split into organic, ads, and AI guided, keyword-level changes, and keywords that stopped driving traffic. Reports are based on real installs when your app tracks them and install clicks otherwise, always labeled. The newest 3 days are excluded because Google Analytics is still processing them. You can opt out anytime in Notification Settings.
  • New: Weekly Trend section on the app dashboard. Your app home page now compares the freshest safe 7-day window against the previous one, with traffic sources and search keywords as two cards and a signed change for every row. It loads in the background, so the page stays as fast as before.
  • Full visual redesign. A new warm color scheme across the entire product: espresso surfaces, peach accents, modernized donut charts with readable legends, and a re-skinned world map. The landing page, documentation, and sign-in pages all match the new look.
  • App switcher. App pages now show the app name as a dropdown in the toolbar. Jump between your apps, or add a new one, without going back to the dashboard; your current filters carry over.
  • Developer testimonials on the landing page are now fast native cards linking to the original posts on X, replacing the embedded widgets.

Per-Shop Install Lookup & New API Endpoint

  • Look up the install source for any specific store by adding ?shop_url=... to your Installs page URL — for example /app/123/installs?shop_url=examplestore.myshopify.com. The lookup is not time-bounded, so it finds the store regardless of when they installed (as long as the event is still in your Google Analytics property). Build dynamic links from your CRM, billing portal, or support dashboard to deep-link into Rankbase for any store.
  • New API endpoint GET /api/v1/apps/{appId}/installs exposes the same per-shop install source lookup programmatically. Pass a single shop_url or up to 50 comma-separated shops in one batched request — the call hits Google Analytics once for the whole batch, so it is meaningfully faster than calling the endpoint N times. See the API documentation for full request and response shape.
  • New Shop Link Template setting lets you point the shop URL link on the Installs page to your own admin, CRM, or support tool instead of the public storefront. Set a URL pattern like https://yourtool.example.com/shop/{shop_url} in App Settings; {shop_url} and {shop_id} are replaced per row. Leave it empty to keep the default storefront link.
